Bmw X5 3.0d E53 Pusher fan not starting

Hi all.
I need some advise.
My X5 E53 3.0d's pusher fan does not come one, this results in the air-con not working when the vehicle is standing, while idling obviously, when the vehicle moves the air-con works fine.
I noticed the pusher fan does not turn on, however, i noticed it turn a bit and stops again so i suspect it must be a switch or something.

Any advise to what i should look at first.:dunno:

The best way to determine the operation of the Aux. fan is via INPA, DIS or ISTA, where you can manually turn the fan on (in INPA its called the e-blower, in the activation menu).

I hear you can also pull the connector off one of the A/C pressure switches (cannot recall which one - high or low) and this should cause the Aux. fan to run but I cannot confirm this is so (or that it works on the diesel cars). :dunno:

There is no "switch" that operates this fan - it is under PWM control from the DDE and it's rather hard to diagnose properly without INPA, DIS or ISTA. The fan itself contains a complex controller and motor driver circuit.

If you see even small twitches from the Aux fan, I think you can assume that the main fuses are OK....

If you have a BMW specific scanner or software a bad fan will show up in the DME module.

Or you build a PWM signal generator to see if it is the FAN.
