Found a source of reman OE 3.0i Mafs for $29/shipped. Not affiliated

Hi, I am not sure if this is allowed here, but if it is, I wanted to share a source I found for A1Cardone remanufactured OE MAF's for the 3.0i's for $29/shipped. I have no affiliation w/ the seller, they appear to be a surplus wholesaler who has a bunch of these. I ordered one and received it and the box is labeled made in Germany and the MAF is a recertified OE hot wire unit.

In case anyone is interested:

Considering this is cheaper than the useless Chinese aftermarket MAF's and it's a real OE unit I figure it's worth a try.

Let us know how it goes. Normally I wouldn't touch a cardone part with someone's else's d*ck. But if it works... Hard to argue with that.

I am no fan of Cardone mechanical parts like recirculating ball steering gears. I can't say I've ever used a remanufactured electronic component from them before. I'll report back with how it goes. My existing OE maf is working fine but I saw the price on these and had to buy one.

Pretty good price, even for debugging. Thanks for the lead.

I will guess that as with many reman electronic parts, in this case, "remanufactured" means "tested" and maybe even wiped clean.

Unless it is a Siemens MAF it could be a VDO MAF also made in Germany, VDO wasn't used as an OE supplier for the MAF.

Siemens Automotive and VDO merged already in 2001 to Siemens VDO.

They are two separate companies just like Chevy and Cadillac. If you look at the picture I posted, the MAF only states that it is a SIEMENS MAF not Siemens/VDO MAF. If you bought a VDO MAF it will not have the SIEMENS name on it.

Do you seriously think that this MAF in VDO package is different just because it has manufacturer logo and BMW part number grinded off?

The MAF is a critical part of the fuel/air mixture system. I never install an MAF that is not an OE or OEM part. My guess is the scope of remanufacturing and selling an MAF for $29 is that it has only been cleaned, maybe not even with MAF cleaner.

The Cardone $29 MAF I received looks identical to my original one except the Siemens marque is milled off like in the above photo. I logged a few hours of driving and it is working fine. For the price you can’t go too far wrong.
