But have you already tried just pressing shut from outside?

If so, from inside the vehicle, look up at the sides. Do you see the two (1 per side) torx bolts? That there holds the metal window frame to the plastic window cassette.
You can (and should anyhow) remove those stubby bolts and then push window down perhaps (I'd recommend you always leave those bolts then you won't get the famous window bind action between the two sheets of glass, yet both glass sheets will still open and close perfectly,, go figure).

The basic sunroof has a manual crank in the toolkit.

Thanks for the info. Managed to shut it by pushing the sliders back and then cranking it shut. It still fully retracts perfectly.

Mine jammed open (one side only) about a month ago. My local mechanic was able to get it back down but it is permanently closed now. Oh well. He said replacing the cassette was thousands of dollars!!

The wearing parts of the mechanism can be bought separately to refurbish the mechanism without renewing the whole cassette. It's time consuming but can be DIY.

I just noticed the typo in the title. Piano. Nice.
