Precisely why I have the foxwell. I do computer IT for a living and no interest in software designed 30 years ago that's in German. Running in a virtual OS that was designed 20 yrs ago. I cant code but I've been able to do anything I needed to including reset oil service, fuel adaptations. I've seen the transmission reset when poking through but I don't have xdrive so there is no reset for the transfer case but I did notice the module I think does that job I just get an error "doesn't apply to this Vehicle" or similar when I try to go into the module I think is for the TC. |

I've got the NT510 and yes, it will do transfer case oil adaptation reset. I think you're spot on using BMW fluid in the transfer case for sure, but just a thought on the Diffs, I used Liqu-Moly 75\90 when I did mine and I swear to you pushing the care around the garage with the Luqi-Moly in the diffs made it feel literally a ton lighter for some reason... I attributed it to just being new fluid, but I do really like Luqi-Moly products. And yes, they all, including the transfer case are loosen filler plug, remove drain lug, drain fluid, replace drain plug, remove filler plug all the way and fill until it trickles out the filler hole. What I did was when it actually started to trickle out of the filler hole, I rolled the X back and forth a few feet to get any bubbles out and got nearly an additional pint in each diff that way! |

:dunno: mine took almost a quart, with very little trickle, on two occasions, 50K miles and just about 90k miles when I was under it doing the tranny work. EDIT - now I'm curious, sitting at 120K now so I'm about 30K off my next change but dying to know. |

https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...ential/6BALEFA I dunno either.... :dunno: *edit* but I do know I only got 600ml into mine when I changed it... |
Oh, we're not actually too far off then.
When I think pint, I think 16 oz, quart I think 32 oz. TIS says 700 ml, which = roughly 24 oz, so when I say mine took almost a quart, I'm guessing that minus the trickle out I got 26\28 oz in mine +\-. |

I'm all set to go up in the air again tomorrow to change the transfer case oil and change the front and rear differential oils. The only thing I have left on my list is the reset of TC clutch adaptations. Still have to figure that one out...
I also have a full set of new front brakes here. (rotors, pads and sensor) The current pads have about 1/8" left so even though I might get another 1000 miles or so out of them, I may just do the front brakes and a brake fluid flush. |
Nice!! You are more than welcome to use my Foxwell if you're ever in the Greenville/Spartanburg area. Did you get new fill & drain plugs or just gonna reuse your originals? Did ypu get the fluids from the dealer or FCP or? Ive been having the debate with myself, if I use the red line fluids or just get the OE fluids..

I kind of went with the bcredliner theory of the original OEM oils worked for 180,000 miles so why change? I get a really good price at Hendricks BMW North Lake so I just got everything from them. I am just running the original drain and fill plugs with new crush washers.
Still waiting on the front flares so they're weren't there when I went in today but hoping for tomorrow. (storm delay from yesterday) Anyway, it looks like a fun day tomorrow in the garage. |
I took Andrew's advice and bought a new Foxwell NT-510 off fleaBay for $119 for resetting the transfer case adaptations and should be here this coming week. I guess I have yet another tool in my box.
