4A62 EWS Tampering after a low battery.
Funny on the suspension delivery mode. Be careful piling around with foxwell. A guy on xo put his car into delivery mode and got it stuck there for a while. His wife was not impressed
Delivery mode is a choice not a fault, so won't be flagged as an error Do you not have the option to reset that module or does it just not “take”. You may have an actual fault. Eg. My wife's car reports an airbag module fault but I can't clear it. Most items will let you clear them, and they will just come back if there's a fault, but some modules won't even clear temporarily. What did you do to get keys to be happy? X5 comes with three keys, two with remote and one basic key without. Not sure if you can remove a key from being paired but they are hard wired to the ews : more can be added but I don't think they can be removed from the EWS brain, but maybe deactivated. What is the error and what was the fix to get the car to start |

See that link it's for a different scanner but has some hints that could help. Run the auto scan and quick erase. Auto scan will find things you can't find poking through the modules. You may have a non mission critical fault in a related module that won't let ews reset completely |
Vehicle is delivered with 4 keys: 2 remote keys, one valet without remote and plastic wallet key. EWS has 10 keys pre-programmed from the factory. So it's possible to order 6 other keys from dealer/factory. If a key goes missing it can be disabled on EWS so vehicle can't be started with that key.
Like said earlier this case was not a problem with key recognition but a lost EWS-DDE rolling code sync preventing fuel injection (starter activation from EWS still normal). Lost sync usually happens if voltage drops too much during start so either of the modules (EWS/DDE) doesn't roll to the next code on pre-programmed rolling code list which is the same on both modules. When you re-sync with diagnostics it sets both modules to start again from the first number code on the list. EWS 3 on the link. http://www.e38.org/EWS.pdf |
