I had my starter rebuilt from a local business and have no complaints or issues what so ever. I'm suprised he could do the job despite the existing starter being completely melted down internally.

Great, I was trying to unscrew the positive cable and broke off a piece of the starter solenoid. The cable post is broken off the solenoid.
I believe the solenoid can be replaced separately? Probably no way to fix this

At this point it is probably cheaper to buy another starter.
