DOOR ISSUE, AGAIN

Just finished a s.plug tune up. All great. But noticed that the center console door lock button didn't pop the passenger door lock when I tried. Released from the inside manually. But when I closed the door from the outside, couldn't open with the outer handle release. Took the door apart and it all seems to be hooked up properly. But now, the door power lock release isn't working manually from driver side lock, from key fob or from inside c.c. door button release. I can manually push the lock down, but it only releases with the inner door handle.
IS this telling me I need a new door actuator? Is this a difficult job to replace?
The passenger rear door actuator hasn't worked for over a year. All the other locks systems are working.
Where do I find one for cheap?
System won't upload my iphone .mov to show interior connections. The outer door handle is still connected to the cable/white plastic knob but not engaging to open the door. Only inner door handle will release the door to open.
Thanks in advance for help.
PS: How do I know it's not a module? :dunno:

Related...Have you coded out (i.e. turned off) the auto door locking at 5mph?...Have you also coded the the "selective" locking that requires 2 presses of the unlock button??

That's the first thing i do when I buy a bmw. It helps a lot with these types of issues..

Also what "System" are you referring to that won't upload "iphone.mov"??

Symptoms of the actuator motor worn out. At first when they start to fail, they will work some of the time, often only work one way like will lock not unlock.

I have a DIY repair of the $6 motor vs $230 actuator replacement. Search my username and awr-fix in the title.

Sorry, no code experience or equipment to do so. This is much like what happen to the right rear door. This pretty much what I am guessing because all the other doors work. However, even after it's unlocked, the outer door handle won't release the door latch to open, it must be released n opened from the inner door latch release. Is this indicative of a malfunctioning door carrier? Or is this just because the latch release system is dead? The cables are all attached from the d.carrier. It does work, lifts the release, but not enough to engage the latch release. The iphone. mov, is a video of this action, but will not upload. Thanks gusy.

If the button pops up and you can open first pull from inside but if after you open and close from the outside you still can't open = DHC.

Usually the handle will feel really spongy when this happens.

Maybe it’s coincidental failure of DHC n the Act. Mine will not release the latch from the outside handle. But it’s still connected n lifts the latch release half way on the ACT. The electronic door lock release no longer works. Will I have to replace my Door Handle Carrier too? Is there a cable adjustment at the handle ? Does the ACt release the door latch manually or electronically with the aid of the DHC cable? PS please send your $6. Link - I will try it with the rear door ACT. Thank U.

AWR-fix: Door Lock Actuator Repair

Search for topic titled awr-fix and you will see all my recently made how to threads. Including the door handle carrier. It’s possible for the cable between the dhc and actuator to corrode and it won’t pull hard enough. There is a band aid fix for such damage but you will have to replace the cable which isn’t sold separately of course.

If the electric lock no longer works you should refurbish using the guide linked above. The motors are about $6 each and I only use the brushes and transplant them because you cannot buy motors with the 30mm shaft

Very impressive, must be jewlers in your ancestry. Excellent work up. I will have to purchase another DHC for replacement. Mine simply doesn't engage and release the door latch to open. Just coincidence I guess. Thanks for all your amazing information. One last request. When reassembling is it OK to connect inner door handle release n door knob lock stem to the ACT before bolting it up? Is possible to connect the DHC cable bulb to the ACT before bolting up the ACT to the door? I recall getting the DHC bulb onto the latch release was a frustrating bear, even with extra long, bent nose pliers. Thanks again.

EFF: I don't have access to a PC/INPA system to do any diag or coding. So mine remains the same. Hard to complain, the Actuator is 20 years old, the X has 254K miles, most of it is all original. Bonus, older car parts are cheaper than new cars. LOL. Thanks man.

You could connect the inner cable to actuator first; I don’t recall that one being difficult like the dhc which is a bit of a bitch. I can do that with my thumb with enough practice you know exactly where to press and it pops in. (Our a different story definitely use a tool)
