Hi
is there any way to remove the ally from the side steps.

Mine are so corroded and need to come off to be buffed.

thank you.

Nope. Whole thing has to come off. Let me see if I have a picture somewhere during my aero kit install.

I've used Sonüs Aluminum restore with very good results on those boards. First remove the plastic trim on the top by prying it out. (if you want those rubber grommets can also be easily removed with a plastic trim tool by just pulling them up.) Apply that acidic cleaning agent and use a small brush. If needed apply a new round. Then just rinse. After cleaning the surface will is "bare" and should be sealed. If you want long lasting sealant use something like Nanolex Si3D.

Oh, were you asking how to remove the oxidation or the side steps themselves? I'm sure I have some pics if you were looking to do the latter.

Edit:

Here's what the side steps look like without the plastic coverings.
