LCM Coding questions with BMW Scanner 1.4 & I-Bus App
I have a few questions about the LCM coding for my 2001 X5.
I live in the US, and my X5 does not have rear fog lights, yet for some reason I'm getting warning messages in the I-BUS app and shadow error messages in BMW Scanner to check my rear fog lights. This warning message does not pop up in my BC messages in the IKE, only in the I-BUS app and BMW scanner do I see these errors. I went into the coding options in BMW scanner, and found the necessary BC messages to disable for the rear fog lights, but even after I disable them, the shadow errors keep popping up. I could not find an option to disable the cold check for the rear fog lights, as it seems my X5 is not coded for them. My theory is that it is the I-BUS app that is generating these errors erroneously. It thinks there should be rear fog lights for some reason, but I cannot find any option in the I-BUS app LCM coding options to disable rear fog lights, or anything regarding rear fog lights. I wanted to get some input from anyone else with experience with LCM coding and using the I-BUS app with the resler interface. I would seek help on the I-BUS forum, but I rarely get a quick response. |
As there are no obvious problems are you asking this just out of curiosity? Shadow memory can also log some irrelevant stuff.

In the US you do not need to code for rear fogs. Just add the switch and wiring.

Is there a setting or something set in the iBus app causing your errors? Maybe try unplugging the iBus app and rerun the scan.

Reviving my old thread, as I am now really curious how my vehicle is wired, and what the deal is with my rear fog light errors.
I recently upgraded my taillight assemblies to LED's, and got them working correctly, besides the flickering issue, which i can live with. After doing those, i decided to look more into the rear fog light options I have available. After poking around in BMW scanner and looking at live data, I'm getting some interesting results. The live data shows that when I hit the brakes, the rear fog lights are activating as well, but erroring saying that there not being detected. I've attached a couple screenshots of whats happening. And I also went and found the wiring diagrams, and it shows that my rear fog lights are wired to my trailer module plug, pins 10 and 12. So my question is, if i want these working as brake lights, can i simply run a wire from pins 10 and 12 to the rear fog connection, and will it be fine to do that to get them just as brake lights? The aftermarket lights i got already included the bulb and socket for the rear fog light. |
