Tank ventilation error

Does anyone have experience with this error? It causes the check engine light to come on after it trips on the 4th time I believe. Could it just be the valve?.Attachment 77892

When I try and activate the vent valve with INPA, I hear nothing...

I believe the valve is cheap enough to replace as a quick and easy possible fix, however on 2 different German vehicles I have found wiring continuity problems back to the computer. I replaced the wire and issue was fixed.

I ordered a URO replacement as I found a new open boxed one on eBay for $30 vs a genuine for $100. We will see if this gixes the issue. I got another check engine light for it last night which only seems to pop up randomly when I am below a half tank...

If the purge valve (at the engine)is the problem it is fairly easy to get to and does often give trouble but I would only replace with an original BMW part. If there is something else wrong the test pump and valving is behind the rear fender well cover and not so easy. I can't remember the code number but are you sure it's not the gas cap ? There are some really good threads on this stuff on this forum. :)

The gas cap seems to look like it is in good shape. I do have access to a known good valve I can use for testing. My current x5 valve does not click at all ever...

Installed the URO vent valve, cleared the error and ran the tank ventilation system check with DISv57 and it passed successfully 2x in a row!

That's great! :) Don't be surprised though if the URO valve fails at any time.

That's ok! Easy enough to replace if needed...
