It does say fault 7D: DME: Activation, electric fan. Does that confirm that the aux fan is faulty?

Also, I was able to activate the AC compressor manually with the foxwell, and it blew cold. But I didn't run it very long. Sounds to me like the aux fan.

Back on my first post on this thread, I stated that a fan fault will be found in the DME module, not the AC system. If you had your BMW Scanner 1.4 up and running you would have seen that and save you some money on the Foxwell.

I have been trying to get any voltage at any of the three terminals in the fan connector, with no luck.

I tried starting the car to see if that changed anything, and the car won't start at all now. It turns over indefinitely but won't start. Watching the Foxwell immobilizer live data, it appears that all conditions are satisfied to start it. There are no faults in the DME other than the fan, and no significant faults in any other module. No faults in the immobilizer module at all.

Is the immobilizer preventing the car from running? A quick search tells me this may be what happens when the immobilizer faults or thinks the car is being stolen?

Battery seems strong and cranked the car for quite a while. I don't think that was the problem. I have the charger on it now and will wait a bit before trying again.

Symptoms: car worked last night. Today I fired up the foxwell again and didn't do anything, but scanned codes and disconnected the aux fan cable trying to check for voltage. I tried resetting the oil change indicator but it wouldn't let me. I looked at the EWS in the "service" page, as well as a few other menus, but didn't do anything with it. Then I tried starting it and it won't start. It turns over very strongly and continuously and doesn't throw any codes other than the aux fan.

Any help would be appreciated. I am trying to find a manual or guide on how the BMW EWS IV works, but can only find up to EWS III.

Edit: RealOEM says I have EWS 4.3. Would that let the starter turn over if it failed or was tripped?

Edit 2: Made a new thread.

For everyone trying to tell you to buy some "foxwell" you can actually run a diagnostic routine via INPA and command your fan to run if you're questioning whether or not it functions. It's pretty easy if you're trying to cut costs down and you already have the adapter for a laptop.

Or if you're not tech savy, then possibly buy said foxwell.

Seems like a good idea to check tho. You can PM me if you have the INPA route already established and need help getting the fan running.

Ooops...looks like I glossed over that you already bought the foxwell.

because his computer solution shit itself. For every person that says just use the software there are a dozen threads showing exactky what a pain in the ass it usually is trying to get that set up many of which include weeks of training before buying a 20 yr old computer with windows XP.
