Lowering Springs
 

I have an 02 4.6iS that has been converted by the PO to rear coil springs. I have no idea what brand they are but I think he said he got them from ECS but he was not 100%. My question is, what is the best spring setup for a decent lowered ride height without going coil overs? Here is my current ride height which is all stock minus the rear air suspension delete...Attachment 78587Attachment 78588Attachment 78589Attachment 78590

I can say that I am very happy with my H&R lowering springs and they make them for both with and without rear air [emoji106]

You can't go wrong with h&r sport springs paired with Bilstein sport shocks/struts. I've run them on many BMW's and as long as you only want mild drop, they're awesome. Ride incredibly and are still sport oriented handling wise.

Eibach springs are good also. They offer a moderate drop.

I would be totally embarrassed to post pics at the moment, we've had rain, rain and rain with leaves blowing everywhere here that past few days and well... she's a mess - but let me get her cleaned up and I will post those for sure.


These are the H&R Springs I that used and I love them, the ride is "stock ish", but you know the roads there, if that makes sense and I got a solid 1.5" drop out of them after they settled in for a few days\week ish.

For struts and shocks I am running Bilstein B6s, front and rear, I really like these also, thing I noticed is that (and I have always slowed rolled speed bumps) at "speed bump" speeds, there is up the front side and down the back side, but absolutely beautiful everywhere else :thumbup:


I also did the Eibach (anti) Sway Bars with hard urethane bushings, incredible improvement really to body roll and turn in, what I notice the most is that prior to the bars I would have said the truck was "Gazelle" like, sure footed as all get out in just about any conditions! What I would say after the bars is that the truck is still "Gazelle" like, but in the since that it took me a minute to learn to re-drive it because they way I used to corner :D, now (easily) produces noticeable wheel spin of the inside rear tire.





I did urethane thrust bushings also and I (probably) could have done without these and gone with Myle HDs or even stock, they can be a bit harsh on rougher roads.


Next steps (when my sorry butt is back to work from Covid...) I am going to either snag some 20" wheels with the right offset to sit flush with the wheel lips or (and probably this option since I just got new "shoes" on the 18s) snag some H&R 25mm spacers to fatten up the overall footprint.


EDIT: That 1.5" should have been 1.25", I got actually just over that in the front, but almost right at that in the rear.
