Style 87

Can anyone confirm if original style 87s are made in italy? Just had mine powdercoated and noticed it does not have the typical style 87 bmw markings on the face of the wheel by the center cap. They show to be made in italy on the rear...

Look at the markings at the hub bore. If they have BWM instead of BMW they are aftermarket replicas.

No marking means they are Replica. Don't get con. A pig with Lipstick is still a pig.

I dont see any BMW markings at all but I did see made in italy on the back of each wheel along with other markings. I dont recall a brand being on there either...

So I bought my 4.6 with oem style 336 from an e71 with winter michelin tires and the PO also threw in the style 87s that were in horrible shape with bad tires and looked to have been fully painted black at some point with major peeling. The rears had some really bad pitting and corrosion which you can still see after(obviously) they were powdercoated. I just find it strange that a 4.6is would have replica 87s but anything is possible I guess...

After curbing one of my refinished style 87s (so mad) I went and purchased a known genuine set I found for sale.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...573dbc1585.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...6b7129b42f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...413f7480ca.jpg

wow, what did those set you back? I have found that in my area that 2nd/3rd hand car dealers will pull the OEM wheels off of these cars and sell them separately, they end up making a few more bucks. A clean set of 87's in my area will go for $1100-$1500 without tires. The pricing has gotten so bad in the last couple years I have started hording oem wheels, at last count I had 30 sets I believe? 3 of which are 87's

30 sets? I thought I was bad... They're easy to buy and harder to sell. [emoji16]

A popular replica existed way back when where it mimicked all oem markings on the from with one exception... the brand read "BWM"

What’s the cost of powder coating if you don’t mind me asking? Been thinking about getting mine refinished.
