Foxwell NT510 Problems
 

Have a Foxwell NT510 that I got about a year ago and used it a couple of times, worked great. Now it does not work with the Smart VIN feature or connect when I enter manually; says "No communication." Anyone have this issue and how do did you resolve? As always, thanks in advance.

Have had mine for several years. Have only had that problem when I forget to turn the key to the on position. Usually that's about every other time I use it.

If that happened on my x5, I'd doubt the car before I doubted the foxwell. Do you have an alternative OBD2 reader to use to test the car side of things?

I do have an alternate OBD reader but the OBD function on the Foxwell works, just not the specific BMW reader. Trying to troubleshoot PDC sensors and last time I used the Foxwell it told me "right front sensor not working" or something like that.

Usually a bad connection or wire is the cause. One xo member traced the near identical problsm to a cracked obd connector

mine seems to have communication probs as well. Won't talk to Carley , and won't talk to INPA os DIS

Start with contact cleaner (deoxit gold is best) then trace wiring.

You can diagnose your parking sensors easily by listening to them.

With your vehicle engine off and the key in the accessory position push the PDC button.

Now walk around the car and put your head close to each PDC sensor, within a foot or less, and you should hear a faint rapid "tick, tick, tick, tick"

If you don't hear the "ticking" coming from a sensor that's the one(s) having an issue. It's usually the sensor but the wiring can corrode or break also.

Check your fuses for OBD diagnostics. Your fuse panel sheet should show you 2 fuses that are for diagnostics

I cracked my OBD2 block (guessing) from wobbling the cable and replacing it was easy by using one with a cut harness and splicing.
