More like 7.5L. The LiquiMoly kit I get from FCP is 1 5L jug and three 1L bottles.

Got a source on that oil capacity? Everywhere I look I am seeing 6.5L. I'd love an authoritative source if you have one.

And oil that new filter cap o-ring! Oil it!!

I did not mean to imply this is my first oil change ever. Just the first one on this car under my ownership. I've done countless oil changes, and I've always lubed the seals.

According to the owners manual it's 7.5 liters.

Now you have me opening up my physical copy of the service manual.
Seems you're right (page 173 in mine, Technical Data section).
I'll update my post.

Only mentioned that because it was the first time I'd installed a cartridge-type filter and not a spin-on, and when I torqued the cap down it bulged out and leaked about $15 of fresh LiquiMoly from my garage to work. The trail is probably still there...

Dirty parked under trees | Album

I really need to trim and/or cut down the trees over this part of the driveway and stop parking under them before I do.
Sometimes it just needs to happen.

I hate washing cars. :(

Been there, done that! Over the past 32 years, most of my vehicles sit exposed to bad weather, leaves, sand and dust, and the worst... hailstones and/or falling branches from the oak trees in my parking area behind the house. I really hate washing the vehicles, and only do so infrequently.

I have three garage bays, but only one car (wife's Lexus) inside, leaving tw pickups, my HHR Panel, and my '01 X5 outside. The other two bays are packed with my home-built 4x8 camping trailer, two welders, two generators, three push lawnmowers, a zero turn mower, two bikes, four ladders, lawn and fencing equipment, power tools, table saw, assorted lumber and home construction components, 16 antique chairs, two large antique tables, polesaws, air compressor, and god knows what else, so I have no choice but to leave my vehicles outside. I use 4x8 sheets of 3/4" treated plywood over the sand and gravel as workspaces, when I need to do repairs.

I'm slowly removing the oak trees, but until they are all gone, and/or the sand and gravel are paved over, my vehicles will remain dirty, and I'm past caring at this point. Hahaha

Sounds like you could use a large shed?

I have a large shed I'm finally finishing the shelving and off-grid solar setup for. It stores all that junk you were talking about. I usually have two cars in the two-car garage, but when you have 4 cars and only 1-2 of them are operational at any given time (ze Germans really know how to make'm!) something has to give. :dancing:

I am still mostly working on concrete + cardboard when wrenching, but I have serious plans for a new house and 4-car garage with lift. We'll see if we ever get there.

Things will get a lot better around here when I cut down a few medium trees, and take care of a few other things.

As for washing cars, I feel like finally getting a pressure washer setup will make things a lot easier on me in that regard.

Purchase correct wheel bolt key | Album

As you may recall, earlier I'd figured out which wheel bolt key I needed and ordered one (previous owner did not supply one). Well, here it is. https://www.sr20-forum.com/images/emoji/happy/rofl2.gif

I plan to eventually remove the wheel locks and just use all normal wheel bolts. More pressing however, is that I'm preparing to replace a front-outer CV boot that tore open and of course I'll need to take the wheel off for that.

Tools:
$12.70 | BMW Code 40 wheel bolt key (17mm) | 36136762344 (17mm) | 36136752768 (19mm)

Replace rear wiper arm | Album

As you may recall from the introductory post, the rear wiper arm joint was frozen stiff and would not allow the blade to contact the glass when actuated.
I've finally gotten around to addressing that.
The arm itself was also corroded to the post very badly. It is in an area that feels very dangerous to pry, so I hit it with some penetrating oil and then cut away with a rotary cutting disc until it broke free. I then coated the post with anti-seize and installed the new arm and wiper.

Parts:
$46.68 | OEM rear wiper arm | 61619449922
