Having just had to deal with one step I think you need to do to make room: remove axle from hub; I had my first mfker (of ten times; first 9 popped out first hit with 4# hammer).

Remove the two shock tower bolts to allow the hub to align with the CV axle and it will usually pop right out (a little penetrating oil helps). Avoid the temptation of pounding, the guy I helped with his alt bracket leak damaged the end of his axle I had to cut off about 4 threads off the axle before the axle nut would take
