Installing Reversing Camera using the PDC Module instead of reversing lights
Hi Guys
I have a new aftermarket head unit (yet to be fitted) and want to install a reversing camera as part of the new set up. I've read a few threads about connecting to the PDC Module in the boot rather than using one of the reversing lights. I've also read that the reversing lamp option can cause flickering of the screen image due to the oscillating current to the bulbs. I was hoping I could wire it to the PDC Module so I could also see the rear camera image by switching the dash mounted PDC button but I guess the image would disappear when the car reached the shut off speed. I've watched many YouTube videos on wiring a camera to the reversing lights but all the posts I've read seem to be from authors wiring a camera up to the factory NAV head unit via the TV Module or NAV unit and using relays. None of the video tutorials use relays; they're just hard wired to the lights! So my question is this: Can I wire a reversing camera to my new head unit REV CAM input and power it off the PDC Module without relays etc? I understand + and earth but not much more! If I can use the PDC, can anyone supply a wiring diagram for the PDC plugs please so I can locate the Live and earth? Any help appreciated :dunno: |

If you have the factory trailer hitch and wiring it’s even easier. There is a backup output from the trailer module output that can be used.

Thanks for the link but it's one of many I've already read! Like I said, these all assume you're connecting a camera up to the factory head with Sat Nav and/or TV. Unfortunately I don't have a trailor hitch/towbar.
If I could get hold of a wiring diagram for the PDC Module connectors I would be halfway there but at least I now know to start with pin 7! |

Just found this site but can't seem to open the navigation tree! Is this a Java issue? |
Post #8 in jcp240z's posted link has the pinouts...
