2003 X5 4.4 (M62) Engine mounts?

My Driver side engine mount has collapsed so might as well replace both.
The passenger side looks easy enough but the drivers side looks very tight.
To anyone that has done this job on the V8 M62, is it necessary to lower the subframe? Any tips?
The only DIY i've found for the M62 4.4i V8 is on the Pelican site and it only shows the passenger side, so I'm a bit skeptical.

Thanks!

It works for me! Maybe because I registered for an account? See if it allows you to register...

Unable to register. Acts like you can but does not send email with registration info.

Thanks!
It's a bit hard to follow but I think the general idea is
1. lift the engine and support from above
2. disconnect the steering shaft from rack (i've read elsewhere to unbolt the rack from the subframe)

3. unbolt and lower the front subframe
