Front Driveshaft 15mm Spacer at Guibo
I don't have stripped splines on my front driveshaft but found this spacer on eBay from Russia. It looks well machined and pushes splines 15mm further into the Transfer Case.
I only found 1 feedback and it was positive. Has anyone here tried this $31 spacer ($41 shipped in 1.5 mths)? https://www.ebay.com/i/253655468495?...SABEgK1YfD_BwE ThunderX 2001 E53 4.4 Sport Ti Silver |
Looks like it might work. You would need three longer bolts though.

Is that spacer supposed to replace the original centering sleeve or between the halves? If it's installed between there would be a gap between the spacer and front half where the bolts go thru and only lies on the center of the piece.
Edit: My mistake. It should fit flush. I remembered the front half structure wrong and added the third picture. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/lWsAA...fi/s-l1600.jpg https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/obj/7xBdvf9 https://c1552172.ssl.cf0.rackcdn.com/751657_x800.webp |
Looks nice. Should come with the extended bolts trix5 mentioned though. Looks like quite a bit more engagement of the splines. If I had a prelci (think they are only ones affected?) I might get this preventatively.

Stripped splines is one of my fears, I just bought this item even though I was thinking of converting my pre-LCI to RWD ;)

What bolts were you going to use? Not so easy to find M10x70 mm 10.9 partially threaded thick zinc coated ones. 8.8 spec similar bolts I could find on BMW parts but especially when they are longer than original I wouldn't take the lower strength ones.

As long as things stay balanced.... I don't see why this wouldn't work. Agreed, appropriate length bolts would be required.

That's actually a nice solution to the problem I think. I tried reading through the listing and couldn't fully determine how thick the spacer is. It mentions 1 cm making it possible to install (if i'm understanding that correctly).
I wonder if it can be used on the chinese replacement front drive shafts as well... |
