Sounds like the joys of the transfer case motor... not a big deal unless you have a bad classification resistor and getting the CORRECT replacement was a painful slow process for me, but maybe in your area it won't be bad.

The jerk forward (2-1 slam) is not uncommon and has a few causes (none are related to the transfer case motor, btw).
Were the trans adapatations reset when the software was updated? (I'm guessing yes). It may take a few driving cycles for the adaptations to set back to values that work in youvr trans. Also, many 2-1 slam sysmptoms are fixed by replacing the internal seals (bridge seal and jump seals) inside the trans. And sometimes it takes some valve body work to sort (replacing solenoids etc.). |
I've had mine jerk forward when activating the transfer case motor (in park) using my Foxwell NT-510 and after replacing the gear it's never done it again. Not sure why then...

Well, there are some weird software interactions between the trans and the transfer case - maybe that was the cause in your case?
The ZF 6HP26 is used in many cars that dont have all-wheel drive (so no transfer case) and the 2-1 slam is an issue in these cars too... |
I hadn't thought about that, plus I ended up with a nuked classification resistor about the same time. So.... that could have been more of the issue.
