E53 X5 Style 75 Wheel
Anyone have experience with the style 75 on their E53? Seems to be a pretty rare wheel, and is long-time NLA. It's a 19'' staggered set, 9'' wide fronts and 10'' wide rear. They're a 2-piece wheel made by BBS in Germany for the E53, pretty cool.
I haven't found any photos of an E53 with them, not a single image! But did come across this E70 using a set here: https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...75-wheels.html If anyone has E53 images or experience with the 75's, please share! |

Can anyone comment on running a 255/60 R19 tire on these 9'' and 10'' wheels?

Plenty of tyre calculators will help you calculate the correct match but you'll need something like 255/55 R19 fronts and 285/45 R19 rears (that's a rough guess - use a tyre calculator to confirm). *edit* turns out a 255/55 R19 front matches a 285/50 R19 rear pretty closely. |
I could be wrong but I feel like a 9'' vs 10'' wheel with the same tire will not alter the overall dimension front-rear beyond the percentage that is allowable with the x-drive.
It is particularly difficult to find all terrain tires in this size, nearly impossible for a staggered setup. Also, I've not seen an online calculator yet that allows for rim width as an input variable. Just tire dimensions. |
A 255 tyre on a 10" rim is a little over-sretched. And you are correct, in a static state, the absolute tyre circumference is a constant. But mounted on a 2-tonne car isnt exactly a static scenario. Under load, I'm guessing the over-stretched rears will have a larger contact patch than the fronts, and therefore be running slightly faster.
But you are probably also correct, the difference isn't likely to be much. Having said all that, wide tyres like these arent normal for all terrain tyres. Narrower tyres dig into soft ground/mud/snow better than wider tyres. |
I like them because they're different. I don't like them because.... they're different.
