Fog lights inop
 

I’ve searched here and everywhere and can’t find any help on my issue. I haves 2004 X5 4.8 and both fog lights do not work. The switch inside also does not illuminate. I don’t see any information about a relay or fuse that would control the fogs. I put new bulbs in and I tried every combination of headlight function and still no fog lights. Does anyone have any helpful insight as to where I should start looking to diagnose and fix the problem?

What does your cluster say?

Check Fog lamps?
What codes are you getting?

If you have nothing showing on the cluster it's more than likely your switch, but if you have the fog lamps message and they don't come on in auto mode you probably have an issue with your LCM.
Try pushing the fog lamps but when in auto and it's dark out and you'll get a message on your cluster (see above) if it's the LCM.

You were right. It was the switch. A friend gave me an extra one he had and I’ll be damned there are functional fog lights! Thanks for steering me in the right direction!

Glad it was the switch because the LCM swap will never register on the "fun" meter...
