Cost of Parts -

NLA aside, or just common items shared like oil filters, etc.....pricing on NLA I get and oil filters /consumables doesn't really change

Have any of you guys noticed the Increase in Price in certain parts
I don't have any to reference on my recent purchases, as it's just gaskets but awhile back, I bought something, and I knew it did not cost -that much- when I bought it XXX years ago. I did a email search and lo and behold, current cost was almost 2X what I paid XXX years ago. For those getting into this old chassis and trying to do all the PM that was missed by all it's former owners, I can only imagine the cost of PM

It was either rear wiper motor or I'm thinking it was the hatch stops. Whatever of the 2, I think was where I was like wait a minute...let me see what I paid in 20XX and it was half the cost.

Yeah prices on just about everything is up ...not just car parts.

For the range of E53, we still have a wide selection of quality and prices. Genuine, OEM, aftermarket ranging from good to junk. New and used.

But any manufacturer of parts for E53, E39, E46, E83 and other models 15-20 yrs old is starting to think about scaling down production (or already has) as these cars are hitting junkyards in numbers. It's going to get worse soon for anything other than routine maintenance. Many vendors are listing closeouts.

I am helping a buddy fix-up a '91 Lotus Elan and just spent $100 on 4 plastic pieces from England. A very different scenario on an older limited production car...but yeesh...I may actually 3D print some of the things I need.

Ha. Maybe I should look up the cost of the HP PS steering Hose. I've replaced mine 2X over the years and it has always been $$$ for that hose....

Find a tractor/backhoe hydraulic repair shop who can make hoses using your old hose as a template. Last time I went that route I saved around $250 for a hose rated about 5X the BMW hose!

This is what I did for the Witch's PS hoses since there was nothing in stock and the wait from Germany using hadji mail make USPS seem like 5G

E39 and E53 prices hit bottom in 2018-2019 I believe. Buying some parts at FCP euro now (2021) and I'm noticing higher pricing by a significant amount. Likely in part due to supply chain constraints from the Pandemic.

Off topic but on topic RB.....supply chain aside, I've noticed QC issues with alot of things in general. Some things are like a big WTF, how did this pass QC.

Has anyone seen anything funky QC wise in the realm of auto stuff lately...
For me, I'm not constantly weekend warrior wrenching so my wiki on QC auto parts is close to nil-zero.
