Best Looking Exhaust Tips

I'm so knee deep in trouble with the OCD wrench hole...put the car on a jack, start eyeballing and then a long laundry list of things come up

Fast forward to this threads question
On my Dinan exhaust, with tips welded and 4.6is covers put on, IMO, I've always loved this look.

One of the exhaust is starting to develop a rust off the weld, so off to the shop it goes to get the tips cut off , reweld new tips or new tips and 4.6 covers. I'm leaning on the same 4.6is covers for that Stock look but shoot some alternative options if ya want.

Dual walled stainless steel tips work for me. I went with Yonaka 3.5" tips

I'm with you on the 4.6IS stock covers. I've never thought anything looked better, especially around the well-defined bumper cut-outs for these tips.

Dual walled stainless tips are my favorite. The single walled Dinan ones on Red are nice, but only because they are Dinan and stick out in that specifically Dinan way. My favorite are still something like yours OB.

Overboost, the close-up is great. Additionally, would you please kindly show different angle views of your exhaust tips? I've always liked it. I'm curious what it really looks like in other perspectives other than what your signature pic portrays, e.g. sideways etc. Probably a video if it's not too much trouble:D I dig those tips.

On the E53 I love the Dinan single walled tips. On other vehicles I prefer dual walled. I think the factory ovals look goofy. I really like Happy's exhaust because it reminds me of my e90 335 and hints at a boosted 6 under the hood.

Mine are dual walled as well. I felt they looked classier than the aftermarket single walled tips that were available at the time.

Nolimite, that is the exact reason I went single outlet, versus dual. Because it’s a I6 3.0.

The e90's are dual walled, they look identical (except for maybe the size).

I've done quite a bit of searching for tips for my Z32 and have found that vibrant and believe it or not OBX have the most extensive selection.

OT: Happy, the beast is almost out of surgery so we may have to go terrorize WLH Pkwy soon with some blower whining.

I wanted the tip to totally fill the port for the original exhaust tips, to achieve as close to an OE look as possible.

I’ve used OBX for various parts in the past. I never had a bad experience.

Oh yeah! I hope the wrap up goes smoothly for you. Their definitely gonna hear us coming! LoL..

I have used vibrant tips in the past also. They were solid. Look very much like OB's.

For my turbo e30 and m20 vert e30 I went with Magnaflow mufflers that had dual walled tips.

Thanks guys. EOD, don't kid... I'm going to pay a healthy sum one day for an Mtech II E30. I WILL have that in my life at some point. Not sure how I'm going to break that one to the wife, but we'll cross that bridge (and increased life insurance policy) when we get there. :D He who dies having owned the most toys wins right?

I do miss that car. I was running megasquirt EM on it to control the large injectors and Mitsubishi Starion turbo (the small one, TDO512a I believe) I was running on it. Best dyno was 198rwhp and 220lb/ft. Only weighed 2500lbs. There's some vids of its dyno on youtube.

Funny story about that car. I sold it to an airman stationed in Del Rio back in 2016? Fast forward 3 years and Mouse and I are drinking, of course, while working on his X5. He asks about the car saying he wants another e30. So, I of course, text the guy who bought it from me. Fast forward 3 months and we are driving to Del Rio to pick it up. To further the awesomeness of that car... I am still the owner of that powertrain (so will need another e30 at some point). Mouse has opted for something to the tune of 430rwhp and 400ft/lbs after living with the 4 pot for a year. Something with pushrods. :2thumbs: It's nearing completion at a shop about 10 minutes from me. I hope I'm the one who gets to break in the clutch. :D

And to be remotely on topic. Here's the vert with it's double walled Magnaflow muffler. Had long tubes on this one. :D It was slow as hell (automagic), but sounded really nice. I miss that vert too, especially with our current outside temps. LOL, that shot must have been before I did the oil pan and oil filter mount gasket. Got $9000 for this one when I sold it.

Had to sell these once the kids started getting bigger... and private school tuition became a thing. :(

Nolimite39 03-30-2021 11:48 AM

When did you sell that vert? There's one exactly like it in my neighborhood that showed up a few months ago.

Overboost 03-30-2021 11:54 AM

Straight BMW pron CW. I had no idea you had those models.

If you live in the Katy area... that's the one. Sold it back in early 2019. He moved to the east coast sometime last year though. So if you've seen it recently, different car. Same buyer also purchased a 1987 325e from me. He loved it so much he wanted the vert and kept asking about it. Sold his 325e coupe to a coworker for twice what he paid me for it and then bought my vert. This was the coupe. Had 400,000 miles+ on it after I was done with it. Bought it out of a field and restored it.

Thanks OB. We have had A LOT of BMW's. Owned most every E chassis after the e28 5 series. Some of them multiples. BMW's are a bad habit of ours, my wife is fully afflicted too which is why I get away with it. Plus, we have yet to sell a BMW for less than we paid for it. That probably helps too. Other marque cars have failed to meet that benchmark. Here's me at 17 with my first car. 1983 528e autotragic. Was taken too early by another kid in an Accord who rear ended me while I was pulling into a Taco Bell. He wasn't paying attention.

I hope you guys don't mind the image whoring. I haven't looked at these in awhile and this has been a nice walk down memory lane here with my daughter while she's at school.

One of the Brits I work with is in the process of buying this e92 Monte Carlo edition back in the UK.

I now hate him [emoji1787] but I still won't tell his wife (Tarajan) cause she will kill him and I'm not carrying anymore rolled up carpets...https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...e49e9ae17e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...aef6af4b37.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...7225be114f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...9307300930.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...6e2e5df232.jpg

I'm in Humble, clear on the other side of the city so I guess its a twin. My wife has eyes for that vert, every time she sees it she starts babbling about sunny drives to the beach. Just like you I'm blessed with a CEO that loves cars and especially Germans almost as much as I do hence the 6 cars in a two driver family.

VERY NICE! E9x are at the bottom of my list of desirable Bimmers... but that one would be worth the risk of being pushed down the stairs.

Ahhh... The sound of those V8’s! And surprisingly, although my passion for manual, paddle shifters please!
