aux fan running when i turn on ignition

Hi
when i turn my ignition on the aux fan runs at high speed.
The AC compressor does not engage.

I never had a working fan since i owned the x5.
Got one from a working x5 with AC working great.
The engine temp is ok as it is just under normal.
Is there any way to test for the problem.

I have impa and pa soft.
I can remember checking codes for air suspension and seeing
a hvac error.

Thank you

If you're overfilled with freon your fan will do that. What's your low side pressure?

Kind of hard to get a "Low side Pressure" when the compressor is not engaging.

What are the static pressure of the low side and high side gauges.

The aux fan will kick in to high with either the high side A/C pressure switch or lower rad hose temp switch open or not connected.

Hi
picked up a top up kit today.

only low side gauge, but it was off the scale round past the red.

That's the static reading with a compressor that is not running. If it was a true gauge instead of just a color gauge such as yellow, green and red you can tell the actual pressure. The compressor needs to be running in order to determine if the system is under/overcharge.
