Key Fob and Battery Problems at at the Same Time
 

Hi,

I have a 2004 E53. My key fob has stopped charging and I now have to manually open the door. Also, I've had to jump start the car due to a flat battery twice in the last week.

I had to get a call out the first time and the mechanic checked that the charging system was doing the right stuff.

It feels like a bit of a coincidence - does anyone know if the battery charging and key charging issues could be connected? I've got a mechanic coming over later this week but am too curious to wait!

Very much connected. The fob battery is almost certainly fine. Dead main battery will cause the fob to loose sync with the car so the key needs to be synced.

I wouldn't bother until whatever killed the battery is resolved.
