DSC disabled with Engine fail safe prog.
Getting this all of a sudden every other trip or so. An e46 we still have did that for awhile until the battery died and was replaced.
This is an 03 with 102k miles. Doubt the battery is original. Could it be that changing the battery will fix or something else? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
BMW'S are whiny bitches when it comes to voltage. Having a battery that has the voltage and the ability handle a load is a must. You can have a battery that won't handle a load but still has the right voltage. Always start with power whenever you're getting screwy lights, warnings, etc.
Once that's verified then it's time to check other things like ignition switch and whatever else the electrical guru Andrew says. I'm more of a beat it till it complies kinda guy.[emoji1787] Sent from my SM-A730F using Tapatalk |

I try to log every code and message my 2001 throws at me. Checking my notes on the "engine failsafe prog" shows it appeared twice about a month before my battery was finally confirmed dead.
So yes, I'd definitely consider a failing 12V battery as the cause of this. |
Be careful when blaming battery: figure out the current draw on the starter, it often is the case of why battery voltage drops and battery and alternator are often falsely diagnosed as the failure.
That said, if battery can't hold high enough voltage when cranking, you'll get all sorts of module errors. |
Thanks all.
It’s gonna get a battery probably. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
