ABS Module - LR Sensor pinout 13, 14 not 13, 29

Newbie recently came into possesion of 2003 BMW X5 4.4i with 105k miles with some known and many unknown problems. I have been able to work through just about all of the problems with significant help from this forum, except one.

Trifecta, all yellow , Speedometer does not work. I first focused on the left rear sensor and began testing with my DMM. I removed the large connector, (blue), from the ABS Module to test the LR sensor using Pins 13 (blu/white) and 29 (white).

Here is where I need some assistance, pin 29 is plugged just as the other unused pins. The white wire from the sensor is pin 14. My pinout for the left rear sensor is 13 (blu/white) and 14 (white). I have validated this with end point to end point testing.

Do I have the wrong data as far as the pinout? Is the current pinout correct? If not and it should be 13,29 then what about 14?

Thank you in advance for assistance.

Pre-facelift (->9/2003) with DSC 5.7 or facelift (9/2003->) with DSC 8?

Edit: You must be talking about DSC 5.7.

You have the pins correct, 13 and 14 for rear left sensor. On pre 9/2001 models the pins are those mentioned 13 and 29.

Thank you for the quick reply...

performing tests with DMM on all four sensors now.

Did you scan your DSC and actually see what data it is reporting? What about any fault codes?

I solved my trifecta lights by first seeing that the SAS was not reporting rational values. Once I solved the SAS, I then looked at the wheel speed sensors via DSC and found that my module was getting erratic signals from the front driver side. That's when I chose have my module rebuilt, and voila...fixed!

I apologize for the delay with results..
I performed a point to point continutity and resistance check on each of the speed sensors. All four sensor readings were very close so i figured either they were all bad or all good, i leaned towards the latter. During these checks I noticed the ABS/DSC module had what appeared to be a recent rework sticker on it. So not knowing if it had been coded properly to the vehicle i used NCS expert & INPA to recode. I then proceeded to flush the MC with new fluid and thoroughly bleed the brakes.

I still had the trifecta they were now all yellow. Using PA Soft I confirmed the need to perform a steering angle calibration, so using Tool32 I performed the calibration and now... no more trifecta!!

I did run into another problem I am not sure is related so I am starting a new thread.

Thanks all for your input!

Awesome! Glad to hear!

Hopefully you were also able to drive the vehicle and did multiple start/stops too.
