BMW hitch on eBay

Found this little gem. Sharing in case anyone interested. Pricey, but rare.

Cheers.

WOW! That is a crazy price. $1270 with S&H.

Bdc101 05-09-2021 05:08 PM

Not just the hitch but also the towing module (AHM) and wiring harness/plug. That's an extra $250-300 right there.

Pretty spendy still, and shipping that hitch is insane. The darn thing weighs a metric ton.

I don't get the eBay pricing on these. Last fully complete setup I sold I could only get $300 for. And it took 5 months at that to sell.

Shipping option to up here was more than double the cost of the item. But, if you're in Cali and want an original hitch.... :)

I can buy an X5 with a hitch for a little bit more cash.

^ No joke. And then you are guaranteed the person removing it will get all the fasteners, clips, and wiring necessary without breaking anything.

LVP 05-10-2021 02:40 PM

Also valid. I keep looking for a rundown X5 with all the options I'm missing too :)

I've got the rear seat recline motors and switches but can't find the C-pillar switch plugs. I traced the wires on the wreck I pulled them from, but I can't seem to find in the harness on mine. A project for the weekend.

I've pulled a rear seat recline setup complete, but left the wiring harness in situ as it was too involved to remove it from the parts truck. You have located the rear D-pillar blue plugs for the recline switches on your truck? If so, I'd imagine the maroon colored C-pillar plugs should also be present. Most likely tucked under the aluminum channeling that is underneath the plastic trim panels under the rear windows. That's where the main harness for that area runs.

I got one on eBay about 2 months ago for $600 shipped with the module and plug/harness too. Right when it arrived I made sure everything was there, which it was! Good deals do still exist.

I just put one on my 2006 4.4i that I got from the local pull-a-part for $50, to include all brackets, bolts, wiring and control module. I was lucky!

Found the blue plugs, but I must be blind. I can see the harness and I traced it when I had that side apart. I even looked back up through the access panel and still can't see on either side. I'll try again when I have more time.

Looking at that picture, the wires are long enough, wonder if they are tucked upwards under the headliner?

LVP 05-11-2021 02:36 PM

I found a 2004 4.4 at the PicNSave that didn't have the option and the maroon connectors were taped up under that aluminum rail. I could see them on that one but not on mine. I highly suspect they are there and I'm blind but I need a good solid day to get into it on both sides, rip it all apart, cut the slots in the panels and reassemble it all.

For now it's body work for the smashed rear bumper and dented tailgate (getting a door, mirror and hood cleaned up as well), the x-pipe and a solid detailing. Then it'll be reclining motors.

Bdc101 05-11-2021 05:54 PM

Why are you wanting to retrofit the reclining seats? Just curious, I have found them to be almost totally useless. They seem to be uncomfortable for rear seat passengers of any age unless they are as far back as they go. Just my experience is all.

Same here, I just got one for $40!!! i am going to replace the after market hitch I have now, which does not compare to the BMW factory one - much better design.
