My understanding is the total draw is supposed to be on the order of 50 mA in sheep.
I've also read that some e53 will still have the parking dot on at the shifter in sleep mode. (which you can confirm if after 16 minutes current drops to around 50mA or not). I think my wife's old e53 was one of those where P stayed lit. |
Agreed. Older models did keep the P indicator light on. Mine should have it off. I'll put a clamp meter and check OHMs after 17 min. At least I know the problem is in the GM3 module circuit.

Will fuse #72 turn off power to the radio? I pulled it once and I think the radio stopped working. It was pulled overnight. The next morning, P console light was still on. Do I need to remove it for a longer period of time?

Thanks Overboost. Fuse #74 was the first fuse pulled back in Feb. It's been out since then. I pulled it when the battery went dead. After installing a new high amp battery, it went dead after a few days of not driving it. The X5 still won't go to sleep. After replacing the FSR, key electric switch, pulling fuse #74, and checking all the inside lights are off, I'm down to the GM3 consumer relay being bad. Is there anything else I'm missing. Would an advance scan help ID the problem. A BMW tech posts on Craigslist. He will scan and do dealer level checks for a fee. I'm going get a transfer case adaptation. If a scan can help find the problem, I'll pay the tech time to find it.

I have a buddy that crashed his X5 (totaled) and is selling his foxwell half price. You can do your own scan
