Seat Occupancy Issues on 06 X5 E53

Hello, I am new to this forum.

My Car: 06 BMW X5 E53 Facelift model.

Recently, my car showed the SRS Light. I plugged in my PASoft adapter with the paid software and it was telling me my seat occupancy was faulty. So I cleared the codes and coded out the seat recognition.

Once I did that, the SRS Light still was on and I checked the codes but and it was still something to do with the Occupancy Sensor but I coded it out. I saw someone say that I need to unplug the sensor before coding out and well I looked under my passenger seat and there wasn't the normal box I normally find in pictures of the sensor. (Pictures down below)

So I have no clue what to do about this. I do not want to shell out 150$+ for a new sensor because if my car ever gets into an accident that deploys the airbags, it's mostly likely totaled anyway rather spend 150$ on something more important for the car.

Everything SRS uses yellow. There are a couple things on the seat tied into SRS including the seatbelt tensioner. I think they all get plugged into the yellow box in your second photo.

If/when my ass detector goes bad o will be buying a bypass adapter. I think you need to code out the seatbelt warning if you don't want to keep the passenger seat belt latched.

Post if you figure out a way to avoid the bypass adapter I was not aware it's possible.

I think my seat belt tensioner is fine. When I go to live data, it detects when the seat belt is plugged and unplugged, also already had the seatbelt warning off when i bought it.

I bought a bypass but I couldn't find the part to plug it into. its just not there like what i saw in every picture and video online.

EDIT: This is the fault codes

71/01 Occupancy Classification System(O3), status implausible

62/21 MRS Seat Occupancy Recognition fault

What I'm saying is I think all the parts go through the yellow box.

I had thought I noticed when I replaced my seat bottom (due to broken recline motor).

Ah, I'll take a look at that then but whats confusing me is what a lot of people say in other posts.

This is the picture I found online for Seat Occupancy Sensor for e53.

I cant find this thing under my seat.

Use real oem and your Vin to locate your exact part.

Pretty sure that the sensor control unit (you have the correct unit above, BTW) is mounted well up under the seat - you're not likely going to get it out with the seat bolted into the car.

This is in an E46 but similar to E53...

Yeah, but the "sample" image I posted is from an E46. The 5 series (E39) has the same sensor mounted up under the frame, like this...

Not sure where it is on the E53 but it'll be up there somewhere... ;)
