Engine bay detailing

Here are pictures I took while the battery and alternator were out. I used a low pressure electric washer. First, all the heavy dirt and oil gunk was washed off. Second, heavy duty degreaser was used. Third, tire foam can spray was used carefully everywhere else. Brushes were used to loosen up dirt and grime. The engine bay picture is three weeks after the work. Replacing the filter housing gasket and replacing the power steering hose clamps has kept the engine bay cleaner.

What does your engine bay look like?

Mine is pretty clean, I use Scrubbing Bubbles once a year followed up with Aerospace 303. Currently at 192,500 miles.

Scrubbing Bubbles? The disinfectant? Does it help removing dirt grime? I need to visit my local boat shop. It's where I buy 303 protectant. The X5 lower trim needs it.

Interesting. The engine bay is black. Did BMW use only two colors? Mine is white while the paint is titanium.

After pressure wash the under side, I plan to detail it better. The 303 seems to hold up to temps under the engine bay.

The best thing is Oil Eater, but it can only be used on cold aluminum or it will leave rainbow streaks on the aluminum. It's nontoxic and biodegradable.

Mine is also white engine bay with Titanium color.

I use Super Clean. Scrubbing Bubbles works ok as a maintenance product after you've done the heavy cleaning. It doesn't do much if you have caked on grime.
