N62 coolant transfer pipe replacement question
My 184k mile 2005 4.4 X5 just started leaking coolant from the weep hole next to the water pump, so I plan to change the transfer pipe and seals with a Uro collapsible type. It says I need to remove the water pump, but I don't see why, the front seal is accessed from the valley area under the intake. My water pump is 2 years old, do I really need to remove it? Thanks!

Either that or the transfer pipe at the back.
You can refurbish vs. replace the pipes. I did that when I worked on M62 in the past. Shined the ends up like new to make a good seal. They get corroded at the ends Trey have two part replacement pipes that you can install without removing the water pump. |
