What's this connector for??
|
Do you have a picture? Where is it located?
Mine has plugs under the rear seat. I know they for heated seats. Only the fronts seats are heated on mine. However, I may look for a heated rear seats someday. |
This little guy is by the firewall. In the front left corner. Not far from EWS module.
That green little thing you see is the front speaker they cal gong speaker as well. Let me see if I can find more pics. |

:worthless:
Sorry, the pic is not posting. Is it too big? Click the upload button. :dunno: |
I can see both pics fine. Don't know what the harness is for though, sorry. Looks like the keyed 4pin connectors BMW uses for all sorts of things.
|
I can also see the pics fine.
If you've looked at several Xs and didn't see anything connected the best way would be to look at a wiring schematic to know for sure. There's many different options between the X5 lineup itself and different markets. Maybe that plug is all the rage in Europe :D As crystalworks said it's a common connector which makes it a little more challenging to identify from looking at it. |
Oh, sorry. I'm behind a firewall. The pic is linked and not uploaded. I check my phone and saw the pics.
|
Hehe yes it's a little tricky to figure out which wiring circuit it's on. But I'm sure someone will know
|
Hmm....i'm curious too. So lets see if I can get the wire colors correct.
1. BROWN 2. PURPLE 3. BLUE 4. BLUE/WHITE ...you guys see that too? |
This is what I see
Brown and black Blue and brown Purple and white Black and blue https://i.ibb.co/jrvTvL7/20210629-210019.jpg https://i.ibb.co/Sfqd1kf/20210629-210009.jpg Not sure how to figure out what they're for based on the colors |
Maybe it's for manuals. Like a clutch pedal switch or something?

Signal 1 (brown/black): Ground Signal 2 (blue/brown): This signal is triggered when the clutch pedal is depressed just slightly--it goes to DME for cruise control, idle-up such as when you push in the clutch to prepare for take-off, etc. Signal 3 (purple/yellow): This is +12V supply for the clutch switch Signal 4 (blue/black): This signal is triggered and goes to +12V only when the clutch pedal is fully depressed--it goes to CAS for clutch interlock. https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1099239 |

So when looking at the clutch switch I had to look at multiple ones. I'm fairly certain crystalworks is correct. Seems to make sense as given the location. BR/SW -- Ground Electronic BL/BR -- to DME VI/WS-- 5A fuse BL/SW -- to EWS Quote:

Wow you guys rock! Nailed it...
Any way to know from the diagrams if the 12v supply has constant power or only when the car is on? I can't test it right now unfortunately as my battery is out for the moment. If anyone is up for another challenge.. I cut off this connector from the trunk somewhere, do not remember where it went, but remember it was not connected anywhere do I deleted the wires. Kept it out of curiosity to maybe figure out one day what it's for:rofl: https://i.ibb.co/VNKpqSj/20210630-224831.jpg https://i.ibb.co/WHQR8FG/20210630-224751.jpg |

The second connector for sure is for the speakers wiring.
Usually the blues go to the Mids, and the yellow is for the tweeters. Just off the top of my head - I had to resolder my whole setup after a disaster with a failed Eonon install, since I have the DSP amp Someone a little more knowlegeable will help me out on this, I'm sure... |
Thanks! I'm not sure where the connector went, sub, amp etc. I completely removed all stock wiring and components and ran new wires. Not hard. Why not do that? I'm wondering now if it's ok to take power for the head unit from the cigarette lighter circuit.

That connector would have gone to the amp in the left side wall of the trunk, below/ in front of the CD player. I spent quite a bit of time with those puppies :rofl: |
