Need a hatch lift?

These 4 5/8" springs do a great job. I was tired of popping the hatch and having to manually lift it. Now, it will knock you out. :wow:
Several times, the hatch would pop open by accident. The diamond key is not suited to being in pants pockets. I've accidently opened all the windows and sun roof. Even left it unlocked overnight. If I accidently hit the hatch button, I know. The hatch pops open all the way up.
I have videos too. I need to upload them to YouTube.

Wife would set off alarm with the trunk button fairly regularly

I believe a number of us have these on our E53's. I have for at least 3 years. Maybe 5 now. Time does fly. I know there was a thread about them. I forget where I got mine.

Where'd you get yours?

Ahh.. a simple search takes us to 2015 and eBay as the answers to my questions about the purchase!

I realized recently that I need new hatch struts (ouch! head!). :( I ordered the struts and the springs just this AM. It looks like shipping may take some time, but I'll come back to the thread when all is installed.

Did you also get yours on eBay?

I was searching E53 videos on non sleep mode and it popped up. Georgetown is up the highway from Austin. They work great. I may add them to our Acadia. The Acadia has a huge liftgate. Even with new struts, it struggles to open.
Knowing the size, most hardware stores will carry a compatible spring. It just needs to be cut to length.

I just installed these last week actually. You aren't kidding, the tailgate lifts with ferocity. I love it though, it finally matches my other cars! Great price too.

I didnt buy any commercially available thing, but the same idea: I used some "die springs" with washers on both ends. About $1?

Later,, I had go remove a spring from one side because it had too much tension and would be hard to close. A single spring was still enough to pop the trunk open by itself.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3f7187187d.jpg
