Transmission drain and fill is nothing like the old cars and in some cases people have swapped out for new fluids and filters and had the transmission die/need repair shortly thereafter.

A good easy scanner (bidirectional) is a Foxwell NT-510 or NT-520 about 150 USD, which is what you will pay for a scan at the dealership or many independent shops.

If you don't want to shoot it with a parts canon (big bucks) you'll scan it.
