150k mile chaos
1 Attachment(s)
Chaos has ensued since the last storm caught the X5 outside.
Problems: no inside lights, rear doors don't lock or unlock with FOB or button (randomly they do work), rear tailgate and hatch don't open, button does not work for the lid, and rear windows don't go up or down. Fuses 20, 24, 60, and # rear hatch check out. Front doors lock and unlock with FOB. With fuses being good, could the GENIII module finally be bad? It still won't go to sleep. In a week or two, I'll be able to park it for a bit for troubleshooting. The GENIII module will go out for checking. A few new parts will go in. New single probe plugs will go in. A new filter and oil are on order. The valve cover does not leak so that will wait a bit. The axel oils will be changed. I have a string for the moment to open the lid if necessary. :( Everything was working great until that rain storm. I have a front left replacement switch to try. Any guidance? :dunno: |
Should be checking for water leaks, likely effecting the LCM and/or General module. Sunroof drain running down the A pillar might be clogged if it is a water leak intrusion.

All those problems are related to Body module (GM3). Try to source a second hand module.

Cool, I suspected the GMIII was going bad for a while. Now, it's really toast.
Oh, the washer pumps don't work either. :( The panoroof rails were cleaned and lubed about two months ago. Water did go down the drains. I'm not sure how fast they drain though. I did find water near the front wheels when tested with a water bottle. |
Does a GMIII module require coding? I don't have software. Only a Foxwell Pro scanner. There are several options for module sources. Does anyone have a recommendation?

Well, I found the no sleep problem. While watering the yard, I take a look inside the X5. The P amber light is off! With all the stuff not working, the GMIII is my no sleep culprit. The "Deactivation criterion for window operation: error" must be the rear door windows. A new GMIII module arrives tomorrow. I hope to get it installed tomorrow or Sat.
