Avin Avant 4 - No Answer from Control Unit error

2 Attachment(s)
For those of you that have installed the Avin Avant 4 in your X5 w/ DSP, did you ever get the 'No answer from control unit' error when trying to unlock the IBUS unit?

I've been back & forth with Avin support since I bought the Avent 4 in May, and we've tried everything from installing software updates to replacing the IBUS unit. Weird part is that the head unit seems to recognize the unit attached to the USB, and then it doesn't.

Anyone been able to resolve this?

Thanks in advance!

Did you get the license for Resler? It seems like you have no Kbus connection to the system from the iBus adapter. :dunno:

Yes, I paid for the license. Going back to Avin support to see what else they'd like me to try. The journey begins...

Where did you tap the iBus adapter? In the back of the vehicle or in the front somewhere?

Nothing crazy. Just followed directions and connected up front.

I forgot they have a connection in the harness for the Avant 4. That shouldn't be an issue then.

Next thought. Do you have any other modules in the car that are throwing codes? I forget what else is on the Ibus but if communication gets interrupted with errors it could cause an issue. I seem to have a vague memory of another member having a problem with that. I forget what module was at fault. Maybe the TCU...

Finally got to the answer, and it came from the Resler I-BUS developer email support. Hardwire the white Resler I-BUS wire to the white/grey/yellow wire on the OEM blue radio harness connector (I used side-tap connector). Hardwire the Resler I-BUS Red to the Avin harness Yellow and the Brown I-BUS to the Avin Black wire. I was able to unlock after that!
