DSC 4x4 light, no response control module
So I'm stumped guys. I don't have a trifecta I just have a DSC light but PA soft or INPA cannot read the module.
PA soft says module not present and INPA says no response from control module 2006 4.8 IS I just finished doing a whole bunch of work to the car, I'll let the wife drive the car yesterday and when she got back home I noticed the DSC light was on. Know the problems that my wife didn't even realize the light was on of course. I checked all the fuses. I unplugged the DSC module to let it reset thinking it might have been a power problem but that didn't help I tried unplugging the module and turning the ignition on. And yes I do get the trifecta and suspension error level. So all the modules know when I unplug the DSC module but when it's plugged in I cannot connect to it at all Is this an indicator that the module is going bad or is bad?? I read another forum post on bimmerfest forum or somebody had a similar problem on a 4.4 2005 X5 and they replaced the module and that didn't fix the problem and they had to replace the entire hydro unit itself as well. Anybody ever seen this problem before?? Sent from my Pixel 6 Pro using Tapatalk |
I know you said there is no response to the module but did you try turning the steering wheel from lock to lock? This usually recalibrates the SAS on the e53 x5

4X4 light by itself is usually a steering angle sensor failure. Check your sensor values.

For INPA and/or PA Soft, can you connect to other modules besides the DME? Sometimes those dongles need to have pins 7&8 terminated by soldering them together in order to get a response. |

Because I can't connect to it. I can't scan the codes in that module. It's weird because it's plugged in but you can't connect to it. I will try the steering wheel lock to lock and see if that does anything. Thanks guys! Sent from my Pixel 6 Pro using Tapatalk |
You can also try a battery nap by disconnecting the negative side of the battery cable for around 10-30 min which will require another steering lock to lock in an attempt to rid of the DSC trifecta lights but worth a shot to see if you can read the module after attempting just the battery nap.

The KOMBI (IKE) acts like a "gateway" modules--so it's very important that this is connecting as nearly every type of bus I believe usually goes to it. So it IS in fact common that the DSC (ABS) modules can get it's tiny, internal, printed wires broken on the inside PCB. This is usually why these modules need "rebuilding." The E53 ABS module is a BOSCH 5.7 module. I've used these guys in the past on multiple vehicles. CHEAP ABS Module Repair for BMW 3 5 7 series, X5 http://www.cheapabs.com/images/X5ABSMODULE.jpg I would just make sure before condemning the module that you have PWR, GND, & CAN properly going to the module just to rule that out. Does your speedometer work by any chance by reporting road speed? |
He has an 06 4.8is and I think those have the newer DXC module or are they the same as the earlier e53 bosch 5.7 ones?

Here is the CAN hirearchy. https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...us/kdrMlUG.svg |
Here is the pinouts of the DSC:
It looks like there are 3 fused inputs to the DSC. The grounds are the BR(own) color wires directly below it. https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...av/bOlMedJ.svg |
