Cluster info button
Today, the cluster info button stopped working. The cluster does light up radio info. However, other data does not appear. MPG, timer, clock, range, and other info does not appear. Where does data feed come from?
|
The KOMBI is a gateway in a sense that nearly every network connects to it AND it has it's own CAN termination. I suspect some of that information comes from the DME and some stuff from the EWS.
Did you check for any codes? Is this a "highline" version of the Kombi? |
This stalk BC button can be used to "programme" what BC info appears on the cluster when he stalk BC button is pushed. Have you accidentally removed all options?

Do you have any literature on this? |
Hold the button down until display reads "PROG".
Documentation on this is in the owners manual - I'll dig it out... |

Okay...so I'm wondering if the "PROG" is just for the MID? Because on mine, if I hold down the "BC" button, it will never show that. Could it possibly be because I took out my MID? Hmm... |
Great! Thanks! I'll try the reprogram when I get off work. Wifey likes the "Range" option. AKA: lets me drive it to fill it back up.

This is one of several reason for never disposing of a MID unit after removing it for install an aftermarket HU etc. Another is the PIN CODE disable function! |

I already disabled the PIN code via PA Soft. But dang..I can't set clock time or reset the MPG. Unless there's another way without the MID? :dunno: |

Well, it's a bigger problem. I didn't notice it until yesterday. Trying a "PROG" does not work. :( More display info is missing. Data is displayed on the radio.

Update: \ranking it up, the maintenance light row was briefly on then it turned off after running a few seconds. I'll put the Foxwell scanner on it today.

Best way to confirm the display is working properly is to press the right cluster button - you should see 'CHECK CONTROL OK" come up on the display. If you keep holding it down, you can access the BC diagnostics menus. There is a dash display test routine in the diags. ;) Checkout this post from Qsilver7... https://xoutpost.com/1007582-post12.html Once the hidden menus are unlocked, use test #2 to test the display. HTH... |
With my Foxwell NT-510 I can access a menu called "clockwork" and it will illuminate every dash light and instrument cluster in order then all at once. Not sure what it is listed as under ISTA-d

The "Check Control - OK" does work. I can unlock the menus too. Code is 16. I'll try the diagnostic test. Thanks!

Test 02 was positive.
The cluster looks like my house Christmas light show. So I assume the BC button is bad. But why would the maintenance light section be turned off too? It was always on before it disappeared. :dunno: |
Has anyone swapped the BC and turn signal switch? Since the cluster does work, I'll swap the multifunction switch. It looks easy to swap. I've done the electrical key cylinder part. Two screws and plug seem easy to reach.
