Transmission Filter recommendation

Which auto transmission filter/gasket is a good buy? The genuine BMW is $130.00. I'm looking to spend a lot less.

You posted in the X5 E53 section. Post in your signature what vehicle and powertrain configuration you have.

One could only assume what vehicle you have without stating it. ALso, keep in mind there are several transmission configurations your vehicle could have too--even for the automatic.

Have you tried/heard of rockauto before?

I'm only familiar with the GM trans but I would look for a kit that has the reusable metal clad/rubber bead gasket. The more expensive kit will also likely have a better quality(less likely to break) plastic for the filter. I wouldn't worry about replacement bolts.

As noted, figure out which transmission you have...If you have the 3.0 X5, you may have the GM 5L40-E made by general motors. You can buy the (GM) AC Delco Part number trans filter for the 5L40-E, which was used in several GM models, and its cheaper than the BMW Part IIRC.
