Aux pump bleed

I've looked for a definitive answer to the question of if E53 4.x owners can bleed their coolant systems with the aux pump and haven't found it. It seems newer cars can do this, but I'm still not sure about older E53s.

Can anyone confirm (or not) that the E53 4.x can be bled via the aux pump, and the procedures? I'd love to get my coolant system air-free before first start of the new motor.

Thanks much - Brian

N62 bleed procedure from new tis.

The procedure says the aux pump will kick on. I've always notice the little stream of coolant come across the coolant reservoir but I don't remember on the V8 if this happens.

Yep, I've done it years with bmw's that have aux water pump.

Same on the M57N 3.0d - KOEO and the aux water pump will circulate coolant for bleeding.

Thanks guys. Hopefully it’s the same for the M62. I’ll report back.

My Kassel modified DME just arrived and I’ll drop it in tomorrow morning, try to bleed the coolant system and then try to start the motor.

Worked great gents. Thanks for the info.

I didn’t have the thin stream of coolant until after the third top off, or so, then it appeared. I don’t understand what the small bleeder screw does, but I opened it, after the stream appeared, until coolant flowed out.

Remember to follow up when cold. Level is determined on cold engine.
