Help me choose a fox well scanner
 

So I finally decided it’s time to get me a fox well scanner. After looking on their website I have narrowed it down to the NT530 and the NT650 there’s only a $10 difference between the two, so I was thinking of getting the 650 but the 530 says it’s for BMW while the 650 doesn’t say anything.

If anyone knows the difference between these two, or know a better scanner then that would be awesome!

I think I've heard that with Foxwell scanners, the lower numbers are better (i.e. a 510 is better than 530).

Someone that actually has one will chime in soon, I'm sure! ;)

Wow, that just makes everything so confusing.

But yeah, I think I’m going to go with the 510. I just hope this can help me turn off the damn trifecta lights. :angryfire

NT-530 does great with newer BMW'S but is limited on the e53's.

NT-510 is the way to go.

The 6xx models are not bi-directional. 510/520 are basically identical functionally. The 20 doesn't have a reset button so when it crashes or you go too far exploring and need to cancel you have to unplug.

The 520 Pro is handy. I'm using it. It has so many menus and options. I'm finally digging deep into its features. Knowing switch inputs is handy. For instance, the Foxwell tells me three switches are pressed when they are not. I'm assuming those switches have internal shorts. It may be the reason mine is not going to sleep and has amp draw. Knowing where to look is better than random problem chasing.

You will only be able to briefly turn off the trifecta lights if you don't fix the underlying cause. for example, if it is your steering angle sensor that is causing it, if you don't replace or fix the sensor, the lights will come right back.

It will help you determine the cause of trifecta however.

Yeah I know I wasn’t going to turn it off but to use it to find the source of my problem like Andrew said. :)

Does anyone have a resource on what to check with a scanner for the trifecta lights?
