Automatic Transmission Warning Light On
Hi Everyone,
Battery on my 2004 X5, 3.0i was dead for couple of weeks before I revived it by a battery booster. Once the engine started, the automatic transmission light came on and remained on (cogwheel with an exclamation). I did the routine set out on the manual but did not work. I've driven the car, that didn't do the trick either. The light was not on before the battery drained out. I noticed that gear change sometimes gives a car a jerk not all the time. I have the following codes: 5F42 DSC: Transmission control, limp-home operation present BC KOMBI: KOM Instrument cluster: fault stored 8D KOMBI: KOM Instrument cluster: fault stored Any guidance is much appreciated. |
You need to clear the codes and see if it stays off. Doo you hand any other symptoms? When this happened to me the PRND on the dash no longer worked reliably. The problem was water in the transmission connector.

I did clear the codes and light never turned off, still comes on as soon as the engine starts. I have this code now (as well as the previous codes) Test Path : BMW, Automatic selection, Control Units, Drive, EGS/AGS/SMG Transmission management, Read codes Fault Codes 92 EGS: CAN torque interface Do you think I can still drive this car. All the 5 gears plus reverse work. |
