Transmission & Engine Mount Replacement

Hi Everyone,
As I'm getting some kind of jolt, at low gear, together with some blunt clunking noise, I think it's time to replace these mounts on my 2004 X5, 3.0i. However I couldn't find anything directly related out there. Each model seems to be very different.
I'm seeking your help to pointing me toward some resource so I can complete this job successfully.
Thanks

Transmission & Engine Mount Replacement

I had the same. I bought subframe bushings and the tool just before the car was "totaled". I would check on what moves with a remote camera possibility or just lay on the ground and have somebody neck up and switch to drive near you too watch what moves. Use a very bright light to help.

You could set a phone on the ground with video recording to do solo.

The number one cause is rear subframe bushings. So if those aren't relatively fresh, you probably just need to replace them.

What tool do you need? and do you know of any video clip or step by step instruction that you're aware of.
Same for the engine mounts.
Thanks

It's a custom bushing press just for e53. I don't think it works with e70 so I likely have a set of new bushings and the unused bushing press.

My x5 is e53. Thing is I live in Canada.
Is the bushing press a must. Can't be done without?

I need to do this. Get a clunk going from forward to reverse and vice versa at low speed. Especially when cold.

If you have the tool, it's super easy to do. Just change them in place.

Do people sell the tool kit off after they do their subframe bushings? I am looking on ebay and can only find new ones. Looks like you can buy cheap chinese ones for $75ish or nice ones for $250ish?

crystalworks do you already have the tool and/or bushing? I have them never installed.
