Possible for a bad door handle to be causing problem with Central Locking and lights?
Ok one more question for the night. Purchased a cream-puff 2003 X5 3.0 today with two issues. One related to blower motor, other to door handle. Apparently both happened at the same time.
Bought a car from a lady who didn't drive it much, kept in perfect condition. Went out to start car and broke outer door handle, then turned heater on full blast and blower motor went out. I got the car super cheap. Been driving the car more and inspecting it and I noticed two strange behaviours - first is that there is no central locking working, and second is that the interior lights don't come on when you open the door. This is the ONLY thing on the car non-functioning. The car has 0 codes otherwise. Partially, I'm wondering if the broken outer door handle could be the problem. The outer door handle is stuck in an "upwards" position. although it does shut, and I don't get any door ajar warning. However, neither pressing the button on the dome light, nor opening any doors, turns on the lights (and yes, I have confirmed the bulbs are fine). Related, the door lock button on the console does nothing, nor does turning the key in the lock. I'm sort of wondering if the busted door handle is causing all these other problems. Love any thoughts. |
myriad issues..I doubt the door handle and blower are related
1.replace door handle carrier - I am about to do same 2. Gently pry out the center console door lock button..see if bottom is broken (common) if it is broken, superglue it back together.. 3. read up on how to test blower at FSR connection. (final stage resistor). If blower works with 12v applied directly, replace FSR...If it doesn't, replace blower... |
