What is this box/circuit board under tail lights? (Pictures)
Found nice looking LED tail lights and was installing them, but noticed a little black box on the bottom.
Unscrewed the box and there's some circuit board inside with a bunch of resistors maybe? Just wondering what it is and if it's replaceable, i.e. if I can buy this part separately. So far tail light seem to work and turn signal as well, but it doesn't light up when I apply the break. Not sure if this is the reason. https://i.ibb.co/qC3yz5t/20220624-214846.jpg https://i.ibb.co/VHcpyKC/20220624-214837.jpg https://i.ibb.co/BGd7b0P/20220624-214831.jpg |
seems like a bunch of resistors to tell the car the lights are working fine, they of course get hot so they should not be in a plastic box....

I'm wondering if I can just wire in a resistor instead of these. Just not sure the value...
I can probably code out the errors in ncs expert. Only issue right now is they don't light up with brakes applied. I'll try the other tail light for testing purposes. |
Clean up both sides and take new pics to post.I can see they are marked R1 (?) through R8. R5 - R8 are the easiest to read.

Those resistors looked toast - literally! Seem undersized for the amount of power going through them. A fire hazard waiting to happen - JMHO!

i can't see pictures... I'm wondering if its a browser issue, or so you all not see pics either?

Pictures are coming through fine with Chrome

I can probably just wire in another resistor in there but what size?
Will these work? https://i.ibb.co/Wy4N0BB/Screenshot-...n-Shopping.jpg I've got one like this. Tried putting it in there, but it gets crazy hot. Not sure if it's normal or not |
