Aux In Options?

Hi,

I have already searched this forum but haven't really managed to come to a conclusive answer.

I have the widescreen sat nav but no DSP or HK audio. There's a cassette player behind the screen and a CD changer in the boot.

I'd like to just be able to plug in an Aux In and use my phone (Spotify etc) at a minimum and potentially if the cost isn't horrendous and I don't lose any OE functionality (such and the settings etc) replace the head unit (half the screen is full of dead pixels anyway).

I'm in the UK though and while there seems to be a couple of good options in the US I can't see anything available in the UK?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Try looking for Grom Audio on Amazon. I had one in an E53 and it worked great.

I have been using a Grom Audio bluetooth adapter for about 4 years and I love it. However, I have the one that replaces your 12-disc changer. Not sure if there is another one you can put in the front. It's a great product though.

Thanks both. Found a couple of products that match on Amazon.

@Zulu95 did you have one that replaced the CD player or connected to the back of the head unit?

I'm guessing one to replace the CD player is easier to install?

The one that I have, which replaces the trunk CD changer, is literally a 10-second plug-and-play install (except if you want to run the microphone up to the dash -- that takes a few more minutes).

Is this the one that you have?

Do you have a bluetooth module for it also? Or how do you connect your phone to it with it sitting in the boot?

actually I just found this which I guess is better as its BT directly?

It is a bluetooth module, but it has an aux in and a microphone jack. If you want to talk over bluetooth you need to run the mic up from the trunk. If you want the auxiliary input you need to run the cable up from the trunk as well. But out of the box, plug and play, it will play bluetooth audio from your phone without any running of any cables.

My GROM replaced the trunk CD. For your application the one you linked would, most likely, be best.

Thanks for the tips. Ordered the one I linked from Grom Audio directly and installed it today.
Took all of about 10 minutes and didn't even need any tools.

Bluetooth audio from the phone works just fine. Sounds terrible but I'm pretty sure that's the 20 year old speakers! If I decide to hang on to the car maybe I'll have to swap them out.
