Just resurrecting this to say I’ve fitted my old alternator (with new voltage regulator) and all is good, no warning light so this would suggest the fault is internal. I’ve stripped it down and will renew the rectifier with the 6 diodes fitted. Can get it for £52.

Ironically I popped the trifecta yesterday pulling in the driveway and a bunch of odd and seemingly random codes after a scan with my foxwell, which seemed to point to a power interruption. I cleared the codes and ran it a bit and all seemed fine. This morning I checked the voltages in the driveway via the hidden cluster menu (inpa wouldn’t initialize) and saw 13.5 to .7 at 2000 rpm and 13.4 at idle. I ordered an ignition switch thinking my 6 mo old alternator seemed fine.

However, I selected the voltage display on the cluster again on my drive to the airport and was surprised to see the voltage bottom out at 12.3 to 12.6 or so, as I lifted off the gas and came to a stop at lights, etc. It would immediately bounce back to 13.5 or 6. 12.5ish seems low to me, but I am running the 4.6 underdrive crank pulley so maybe this is normal for these motors.

At any rate it ran like a top to the airport so who knows. New ignition switch will go in regardless as mine is 20 years old and from what I read they are a known weak part. Then I’ll wait and see if the issue returns.

I noticed that the hidden menu will display oil temp in precise digital. I watched the oil warm to 96 degrees, then cool back down to 94 and stay there as the t-stat opened in the filter housing and ported oil to the cooler I installed. The water temp stayed pegged at 105 degrees. 9+ quarts takes a long time to warm up.
