I'm back after some more researching. The DME connectors were totally fine and clean, but this morning I suddenly got the engine failsafe program after doing groceries. That was scary.. luckily it was only a short drive back home so I let the car cool down and opened the hood. The drive back home really felt like it had a vacuum leak, there was basically zero throttle response and a very rough idle.
As soon as I even touched this rubber hose and moved it the tiniest bit, the RPM would jump up and down. Sometimes when moving the hose the car just instantly dies. I took a video of it happening as well as a short clip following where the hose goes: https://youtube.com/shorts/BqUJYEn1Hmc?feature=share I have a couple of questions now: - Is this for the fuel tank ventilation? Or is it the oilpan ventilation? I'm assuming the first - I have temporarily closed the vacuum side (TB side) with a bolt, and left the other side open so it can ventilate. Is this dangerous to drive the car like this? It is only temporary until I get it properly fixed - Does this also explain the "throttle body briefly jammed" faultcode, considering the vacuum is on the TB? - I tried spraying the entirity of the hose with brake cleaner to figure out where it was leaking exactly, but there was zero response. Moving the hose even 0.5cm up or down causes a huge spike/loss in RPMs. How does this make sense? Sent from my KB2003 using Tapatalk |

I will order part 13907556934 (the hose elbow piece) along with some new hose clamps and install it ASAP! Sent from my KB2003 using Tapatalk |
After installing a couple hose clamps, the issue seems to have disappeared. The checkengine light also went away after a ~15 minute drive (after restarting the car), idle is very smooth again even when pulling in the hoses that are now clamped up!
I could not find any sign of even the slighest bit of damage or cracks on either side of the hose, so I'm suspecting it really is just the missing clamps that was causing this problem. Do you reckon it's still best to replace the hose, just in case? |

If the hose does not have any cracks, is not getting brittle, and holds vacuum after adding the missing mini clamps, then I would not replace it. Add a little rubber protectorate and you are good to go!
Try 303 Space Age protector for a long lasting none greasy solution On the part exploded images I posted. There are two sites for BMW parts look up that can be accessed for free. https://www.realoem.com/ BMW Parts Catalog Add your VIN number and the parts that fit your car can be seen easily. |
